Story Synopsis & Historical Significance

This volume captures one of the most critical turning points in X-Men history, serving as the official bridge that directly set up the creation of X-Force.

The plot introduces Cable (Nathan Summers), a battle-hardened cyborg soldier from a dystopian future who takes command of the leaderless, young New Mutants team. Shifting their training from standard superheroics to tactical guerrilla warfare, Cable prepares them to face deadly adversaries. The collection highlights their brutal clashes against the terrorist Mutant Liberation Front (MLF) led by Stryfe, a dangerous encounter with Freedom Force, and an unforgettable team-up alongside Wolverine to fight the cybernetic killers of the Reavers.
